I have learned recently that it may take 3-6 months (perhaps even longer …) on a gluten free diet for all my symptoms to go away.
This gives me hope to just stick with the gluten free for now, although I am still dairy, soy & egg free, I may integrate those back into my diet after the 30 days is up, even if I’m not feeling better yet …
3-6 months ? I have renewed hope 🙂
Doing much better today 🙂
Been having some trouble staying grain free (had to have Rice Chex when my stomach was upset the other day …) But, soy, dairy, and egg are completely gone ! We shall see how it goes for the rest of the month !
Got sick today, don’t know what caused it. I didn’t eat breakfast before I left, then I had gotten a flat tire and was stuck without food until lunch time. I did have a Lara Bar in my bag, so I ate that. But, by the time I got home, I was REALLY sick to my stomach, cold and shaky, with a low temperature (97.1 F)
Don’t know if it was a viral, bacterial, food poisoning ??? Or, just my blood sugar out of whack, but I NEVER want to feel like that again !
Finally ! No more eggs, no more “gluten free” bread. Just veggies, fruits, and some peanut butter, almonds and pistachios. That is what I am going to live on for the next 30 days.
I sure hope this congestion clears up.
Meanwhile, I have just purchased this product: Xlear Sinus Nasal Spray
It’s a nasal spray that contains xylitol, it’s supposed to help clear up your congestion – without drugs, no side effects, no rebound. We’ll see how it goes …
There are so many things that you don’t think about until later.
About 9 years ago, after my son was born, I was still overweight. I went on a diet to lose weight. I counted calories and made sure that I did not go over my limit. I lost 50 pounds in about 9 months. It was going pretty good at first, but, then I started getting sick a lot. It seemed like every time I lost some weight, I would get sick, like, with a cold or flu. Maybe that’s not so weird.
But, when you look back at it and compare that time I lost weight with my recent weight loss (yes, again) something was different.
This time, I barely got sick at all. Even through my usual Fall/Winter “sick time”. Most of my life, I have been getting sick at least once a month during the Fall/Winter season. Usually it last for about 2-3 weeks each time.
This time I lost weight, I only got sick a couple of times during this Fall/Winter season, and they have been very mild “colds” (I assumed) that only lasted about a day or two.
So, what was the difference between the first time I lost weight and the second time ?
The first time I lost weight by eating Lean Pockets and Happy Meals.
This time I lost weight, I ate a gluten free diet of veggies, fruits, nuts and beans (except for a couple of slip-ups, which happened to be the times that I got “sick”)
Hmmmm …. what does that suggest ?
Well, I couldn’t find any good homes for the rest of my Udis (gluten free) bread & eggs, so I have been using them up yesterday and today making french toast and such.
I was really congested last night and this morning – had to use sinus spray ! I really want to avoid that as much as possible …
Maybe it’s all the eggs I’m using up ???
Guess we’ll find out soon …
I was really concerned about missing the soy milk, but I have decided since I only use it in coffee and chai tea … that … I would just stop drinking coffee and chai tea. I’m now back to my old favorite: Yerba Mate, I grew up with this stuff, my mom always made a big pot of it, especially when we were sick. Always makes you feel better. I think it’s better for you too.
No soy, no problem.
